Know Any Foreign Newspaper or Magazine Editors?

If so, you might want to let them know that our monthly Freakonomics column in The New York Times Magazine is now being distributed for secondary publication through The New York Times Syndicate. The column has already been picked up by a number of U. S. papers including The Boston Globe and The Las Vegas Journal-Review, and a number of foreign publications; once we have a full list, we’ll pass it on.

I know some papers in Brazil that might be interested, like Estadao, Folha de S. Paulo and Gazeta Mercantil. Does the Times translate, or does it license out the translation rights? Just curious (and self-interested): I'm a financial translator and a fluent gringo sambista! :-)

I assume the Times just licenses the translation rights. "Freakonomics" was published in Brazil a few months ago and we're told it remains at No. 1 on the non-fiction lists. So maybe one of those papers will pick it up.
