Compare, Contrast, Complain

Here’s a new website, from the Dept. of Health & Human Services, that lets you see how your hospital compares to others.

Here’s another new site, from the Project for Excellence in Journalism, that lets you see how a particular news story is covered in various media outlets.

And if you just need to complain about something, here are some places you can sound off about bad drivers, littering, obnoxiously noisy people, and nannies who yell at kids.

    AWESOME!!!
particularly the second idea about journalism. today’s news in case.. In India, there’s a row brewing between state govt and farmers over the issue of farmer’s land being given to industries. In Punjab, farmers confronted against police and tension arose in that area.
One TV News channel covered it as if, the farmers were greedy folks who would never settle for any compensation and are against ‘reforms’.
and yet another was decidedly in the opposite camp. They just cant, just state facts. (some news channels suck, big time.. they are so inarticulate and populistic, that every word they utter drives a dagger deeper into the already tattered soul of conscious true journalism)
I was thinking of just about the same thing, when i read this post.
And another idea.. in India court cases take FOREVER to resolve. I was wondering if it is viable for newspapers yo have a column that would keep a tab on all the old cases, still pending. Many politicians bank on public’s short memory and guaranteed long drawn court cases to continue thier unashamed misuse of power.
I wanted to know, if such columns exist in other countries’s newspapers.
