He makes some really good points. I will never look at economics the same way again.

Tom Music

I had him as a professor for Intermediate Micro at the U of Washington. He was absolutely fantastic, and did a really good job of facilitating studying in groups.

The course material he used was of his own creation, and was (is?) meant to be an open-source economics textbook. I am elated to see that he is finding success in this new direction. Genious!

You're commenting on blogs, but worried about wasting 4 minutes? That makes alot of sense.

This is an old old one... I remember reading it in on the website of the Annals of Improbable Research more than three years ago, as one of their "classics".

Here it is, for those who for some reason can't view the video or want to cite it / quote from it, etc.

RandyfromCanada, why are you picking on your friends now? I supported your win of the signed Freako book. I went way out on a limb for you.

Tell me what's wrong. Job? Friends? Money problems? Girl/boy problems?

I promise not to tell anyone. And no one but me will read your reply. Right, other blog readers?

egretman

RandyofCanada what can I say
You're just having a really bad day
Your comments are outside the standard deviation
That I can say without equivocation
When you let fly your distinctive argot
Try to aim more at the target
Dubner, there's your enemy
Aiming at me is just blasphemy

No, RandyfromCanada, has not received special attention because he is Canadian. We, Americans, are country blind. We don't see other countries. Therefore, we do not discriminate against them.

RandyfromCanada was the first to guess the winning entry in a recent "win a signed copy" Freako book contest. But for reasons known only to him and the authors of this blog, he was not judged to have won the book.

"We, Americans, are country blind."
That's a funny statement, if it was intentional, because if you're country blind, then why do start with "We Americans." Of course that's how Colbert would interpret it, anyway..."I dont see countries, the only way I know I'm an American is because that is what I've been told."

Although one could argue against that said blindness, because the last I checked racial profiling was pretty common in America...although maybe not among sophisticated Freakonomics readers (or at least a cost benefit analysis would have to take place first). Or maybe Americans are country blind, but not racially blind.

I wonder why I don't get this sort of econ lecturers... :(
