Uncle I.R.S. Wants You

The job of I.R.S. commissioner has been filled — Mark Everson, who left to take over the American Red Cross, has been replaced by deputy Kevin Brown — but there’s still room for more at the I.R.S. Now you can nominate yourself (or a loved one) for a three-year volunteer membership on the agency’s Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee, which includes up to 23 civilian members.

“It is important,” the I.R.S. states, “that the IRPAC continue to represent a diverse taxpayer and stakeholder base … membership is balanced to include representation from industries including insurance, banking, the tax professional community, small and large businesses, colleges and universities, state tax administrations, software and the payroll community.”

If you’re still interested — and willing to submit to an F.B.I. background check — then here’s the application.

It can't be that nobody cares about taxes. Must be that nobody wants to make the IRS pay any more attention to them than absolutely necessary.

I would like to do away with the IRS and the 16th amendment. Income tax only goes to pay for the interest on the national debt anyway.

The Commissioner's job has only been temporarily filled, in that Kevin Brown is Acting Commissioner. The administration is still considering various options on how to fill Everson's unexpired term, which runs through May 2008. See article in today's BNA Daily Tax Report, "Confirming IRS Leader Could Prove Difficult, Require Political Arrangement" (sub. required).

Please read Irwin Schiff's Federal Mafia book. The income tax is unconstitutional and illegally imposed. I wish someone would come out and expose this in a popular documentary for the masses. Until then were stuck paying for our slavery er freedom.
