Slowly but Surely

To all devoted blog readers who’ve requested signed bookplates: Don’t lose faith! Demand continues to outstrip supply here in the Freakonomics office. A great many of you have taken the authors up on their offer, and we are happily working to make good. I’ll be mailing 2,000 bookplates this week from HarperCollins and will send the remainder as fast as the Ste[v/ph]ens are able to sign them. Thanks for your patience!

Do you send bookplates to Canada? I ordered one a year ago and never received it. Maybe it got lost in the mail or my info wasnt correct.

What is the value of "signing"? I wonder if it's value lies in the implied connection to the celebrity or some potential financial benefit.
The latter seems dubious since rarity is usually the major factor in value-added signatures. It's like Beanie Babies. Once the general public is aware of the "special" value of something, it has already become common.
I admit to having a couple signed books and I guess I value the signature for the implied connection to the author.
Okay, that's cleared up for me, thanks.
