A Formal Response to the Foote and Goetz Criticism of the Abortion Paper

I blogged last month about the Foote and Goetz criticism of the work I did with John Donohue on abortion. While embarrassing because it pointed out that the wrong numbers got into one of our tables, it doesn’t offer a fundamental challenge to our original findings. When you measure abortion more carefully — in ways that we showed back in our 2004 paper — the results are as strong or stronger than ever.

For those who are interested, we’ve now written up a formal response which you can find here.

So...does this mean we'll be hearing from Mr. Sailer again soon?

I tried reading the paper, got to page 2 and decided to change the subject.

He's probably too busy making out with guys to respond...

Dr. Leavitt, are you planning a response to Dills & Miron's comment on your 2005 reply to Foote & Goetz?
