Not Wayne again…

We’ve mentioned a few times on this blog (see here and here) how often criminals seem to have the middle name “Wayne.”

Turns out the shooter in the Kansas City Mall was named David W. Logsdon.

I have a pretty good guess what the “W” stands for.

(hat tip to Matt Randolph.)

This is just a test. If this had been a real post, I would have taken the time to think of a response to this neuron-numbing gibberish.

I think I need a T-shirt that says "what would Wayne do?"

I don't think Marion Michael Morrison was a cowboy until he changed his name.

News of the Weird, 2 years ago, made a list of all the murderers with the middle name of "Wayne."

I missed the shooting at the mall in Kansas City by 30 minutes. If my car had been parked at my apartment (but it wasn't due to construction in my parking garage that week) I would have been at Target when the shooter was there. Scary! To add to the spookiness of the situation, when I called my mom to tell her what happened, she paused and told me that my dad had a dream around midnight that morning that he was at my funeral. Two shootings in April where the killers had a mental illness. I wonder if the government will back down from de-institutionalizing mental illness back to giving these people a place to go when they are having difficulities. I don't believe either shooter was on psych meds though I don't think medication would have solved their problems.

It's kind of part of the "public interest". But hey, you are bound to sell someone a couple of books once in quite a while. Or aren't you!

I digg it, funkyj, I digg it.

Holy gehosephats, now a google search for the Goldstein number yields 319,000 hits.

giromide

Let us clarify that "Wayne" is only "bad" when used as a middle name.

SteveMac

Sure, Wayne, tell yourself that!!

1000kwh

Yeh. Keep it up and I'll find you all. KWH

egretman

KWH, are you a Wayne or the AACS after Goldstein?

Just an observation, that string brought back 283,000 pages about this time last night. As of 10 pm may 2 it brings back 320,000. 40,000 virtual graffittis in a day. Or perhaps that's as fasy as google is catching up. I don't know.

Hey freakonomics dudes. Loved the book (loved the cover too I mean). Do me a fabor and solve the flouride mystery would you? I hear both sides of the same story that never goes away. My town doesn't flouridate. A town 50 miles away does. That is how the whole country seems to be.

Shouldn't there be a disparity in concentration of dentists if it is good for your teeth? Can this be measured? By you, I mean. I will settle for circumstantial evidence even.

egretman

558,000 pages now.

egretman

878,000 now. With the internet, can data ever be lost again? On the other hand, couldn't google just block the number from their searches? So in the future, google is the gateway to all information? Replacing AT&T as this generation's great evil of our times?

funkyj

@egretman: of course google can block it.

Go to a beijing internet cafe and google for "falun gong".

Of course if you have the HD-DVD key and google for it then you already have the key so why block it?

Clearly the solution to the AACS problem is to make the world a police state.

egretman

Police state! I like it, funkyj.

BTW, you could just google "HD-DVD key t-shirt" and get the key if you didn't have it.

Re: Exact-match Google search for "09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0"

Now (May 4, 2:43 CST) produces "about 964,000" pages, up from the 320,000 on May 3 cited above.

Wonder what the upper limit will be?

At Q&A site http://uclue.com/ a customer asked us to research the prevalence of the middle name "Wayne" amongst criminals.

You'll be amused to know that it turns out also to be prevalent amongst lawyers.

Of the Alabama State Bar's 15,400 members there were 10 with first name Wayne and a massive 187 with middle name Wayne!

The Research is here:
