News and Notes From All Over
A while back, there was discussion, only half in jest, that Levitt might make a good Supreme Court Justice. Now things have gotten even crazier: he has been nominated (again, only half in jest) by the BBC to help rule the world: click here for the opening page, then the “click to start” tab and then “Economists.” (It is telling enough that there are only four categories from which to choose a potential council of world rulers — and one of the four is “economists.”) Finally, Freakonomics has been nominated for another award, the inaugural Financial Times/Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year. We already pestered you to vote for the Quill Award, so I won’t lay it on heavy for this one (yet) but if you do feel like voting, here’s the link.
