The old Michigan Bottle Scam.

If Michigan doesn't want this sort of thing to happen, they should lower the deposit. How, exactly, is it a scam to honestly collect items for recycling and taking advantage of an available opportunity for arbitrage?

The one thing I can think of- to qualify for the deposits, does the item in question have to have been purchased in Michigan (where, presumably soft drinks are ten cents more). It seems to me that this is prudent information to be printed on the can.

Pardon me while I roll my eyes at "Is the cutthroat college process good for kids" article.

They've been coddled all the way through their K through 12 government schools, and now they want to go to the best, most prestigious schools without trying too hard?

If they don't have what it takes to into the best schools in the country, then maybe they should look to second best, or third best, etc.

What are these kids going to do when they get out into the real world? Is their mommy going to go with them to their job interview? (Wasn't that a plot line of a "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode?)
