If All Men Got Younger
I watched the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night. It got me wondering what would happen to various economic outcomes if, like Brad Pitt‘s character, henceforth half of all men, but no women, were born and lived their lives backward from old age to infancy.
What would happen to the female-male wage differential? Total labor supply? To the relative bargaining power of men and women within marriage and the size of the surplus to marriage. I’m quite sure that all of these outcomes would change, but how? The possibilities for speculation are nearly endless.
