Wagner for Baby
Scottish Opera will soon launch Baby O, a series of concerts for infants. The concerts “will feature no lyrics, narrative or plot. Instead, classically trained singers will create baby-friendly noises, such as Wellington boots splashing in puddles, buzzing bees, quacking ducks and the fluttering of feathers.” The concert series was organized by Jane Davidson, director of education for Scottish Opera, who hopes it will contribute to research on music and young children: “My goal was to create a performance piece, but, at the risk of sounding pompous, I wanted to contribute to the body of academic research about when tiny infants actually start to listen.” It may be the perfect solution for parents still mourning?Baby Einstein‘s fall from grace.
