Discovered: The Great Atlantic Garbage Patch
Scientists have documented the existence of a?garbage patch in the Atlantic Ocean, similar to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The floating garbage mass consists of plastic bottles and other debris, and, more concerning, tiny specks of plastic suspended near the ocean’s surface. “It’s shocking to see it firsthand,” said Anna Cummins, one of the researchers. “Nothing compares to being out there. We’ve managed to leave our footprint really everywhere.” Proposed solutions welcome here. (HT: FP Passport.)[%comments]
